Quotes from the Founding Fathers

"I thank God that I have lived to see my country independent and free. She may long enjoy her independence and freedom if she will. It depends on her virtue." - John Adams

And what duty more pressing...than...communicating it to those who are to be the future guardians of the liberties of the country?" - George Washington

"America united with a handful of troops, or without a single soldier, exhibits a more forbidding posture to foreign ambition than America disunited, with a hundred thousand veterans ready for combat." - James Madison

"Educate and inform the whole mass of the people. Enable them to see that it is their interest to preserve peace and order, and they will preserve them." - Thomas Jefferson

"The cause of America is, in a great measure, the cause of all mankind." - Thomas Paine

"The Constitution is not an instrument for the government to restrain the people, it is an instrument for the people to restrain the government." - Patrick Henry
